Good morning Honeys, Happy Hump Day!
How is your morning going?
Over the last couple of days, we’ve covered writing down your wildest dreams and also how to find your Core Values. Today our focus will be on creating the timeline to achieve your most important goals. As I’ve said before, goals are dreams with timelines.
Start by dreaming that you have a great life, then put in the effort that is needed to get there.
List of dreams and prioritizing your future
On your dream list that you worked on Monday, I would like you to now give them a ranking of importance. You will evaluate them on a scale from 1 to 3.
Beside your dream, you will score 1 for something you would love to achieve within the next 1 to 2 years.
Then score 2 for the dreams that you would like to accomplish within the next 3 to 5 years.
Give score 3 for the unimportant dreams, but you would like to achieve them eventually.
I completed these steps at age 22 after having my son at 20 years old. As you can imagine, at that time in my life, I was very lost. Hence, I began working on a plan. I knew that I hated my job and where I was living, so I began to focus on those two elements which aligned perfectly with my core values. I didn’t know how I was going to fix my situation, but I gave it a deadline.
My goal was that I wanted to own my own house by age 25. When I shared this goal with others, they would roll their eyes and laugh at me. But the timeline was set.
Setting your timeline
It’s simple to give yourself a date to complete a goal, but when you create a timeline is an entirely different ball game. Since timelines are made up of the hows and whens, you’re going to complete your goals.
So I had the idea of buying a house, but I had no idea how hard it would be. Consequently, I had to research how to get it done. I went to the bank and found out what they would need from me to get approved for a mortgage. I was missing all the requirements.
I had bad credit, no money, and a low paying job.
It was bad, it seems impossible until I created my timeline. I had 3 years to repair my credit score to save the down payment to purchase a home. Also, I had to find a better paying job.
Now it’s your turn to start creating your timeline. Take a look at all the goals that you wrote 1 beside on your dream list. Start by whittling them down until you have one particular goal that you would like to spend your time working on. Then research the steps to achieving your goal. It will take time and effort on your part, but in the end, it will be worth it.
Don’t forget to make sure that whichever goal you choose to aim for that it is incomplete alignment with your values.
TTYL and by the way…have a great day
